About Us

Founded in 1958, PCHS is the oldest historical organization in Pinal County. The museum preserves Florence and Pinal County's rich history through exhibitions, educational programming, and events.

Sitting on 1.45 acres, PCHS has the main museum and several auxiliary structures, including farm implements from Pinal County, a blacksmith shop, and the Town of Florence's actual 1953 and 1937 fire trucks. The museum covers Florence's rich history and cultural diversity, from prehistoric Native Americans to 21st-century local families who have lived, worked, and attended school, continuously enriching our collective stories.

Additionally, the museum houses a large and diverse research collection of records, books, and photographs from which exhibitions, programs, and events are created and provides opportunities for academic and community-based research. The most frequent research requests include information on Florence's 100+ properties on the National Register of Historic Places, Florence families, and the Second Territorial Prison located in Florence. Serving 5,000 visitors annually, PCHS Museum is an economic asset to Florence.

Explore Florence’s rich history at the Pinal County Historical Museum and see exhibits including Florence’s Historic District, medical display, Second Territorial Prison, farm implements, and more! Browse our gift shop filled with handcrafted jewelry, books, kids gifts, and more!
