About Us

Proudly celebrating 82 years of servicing members and a long-standing history, America First Credit Union has become one of the largest, most stable and most progressive credit unions in the country, and has remained a member-owned, not-for-profit cooperative financial institution.

Today, America First has 120 locations, and is the eighth-largest credit union in assets in the United States with over $16 billion, and the fifth-largest credit union in membership in America with more than 1.2 million members.

America First Credit Union is dedicated to creating lifetime memberships with those served.

It was founded in 1939 in Salt Lake City, when 59 charter members of what was then the Fort Douglas Civilian Employees Credit Union used a Prince Albert tobacco can to hold all cash deposits. Total assets and membership were $788 and 79, respectively.

America First's mission of service is not limited to helping people develop and maintain financial well-being. In fact, it emanates throughout the community. Our employee volunteer program, the Greater Good, offers a planned, managed framework that motivates our staff to effectively donate time and resources to the communities where they live. And it engages in philanthropic activities throughout its service area.
